“ThanksGiving is good but ThanksLiving is better.” ~ Matthew Henry
Yes, the title of this post is a quote from the Kevin Costner flick, Field of Dreams. Hey, I’m a t.v. and movie baby. Sue me.
But that’s not all it is. It’s a direct quote from my best friend after I told her how excited I was that folks were responding beyond anything I ever expected to my blog.
Relatively new to the blogasphere, I did try this once before. In fact, it’s still up and running and you can check it out here if you want — addresshouseofcorrections…But just don’t judge me.
Trying to sell my first novel, I thought an additional way to do that was to start a blog. Only problem? I had no idea what I was doing and I made the mistake of writing about my journey to write and publish my book. Only.
Yes, it was interesting for the first six to nine months, but even I got tired of writing and reading only about myself. And I’m also guessing – based on the anorexic numbers my blog clocked – yaw were tired of me, too. LOL!
That’s why when I summoned the courage to start the monice magazine, I decided I wasn’t going to make it about me. Instead, I deliberately set out to share information and pen pieces in true Pay It Forward fashion that would hopefully inspire, motivate and entertain a supportive community of artistpreneurs, who could in turn share their experiences and expertise with one another.
Yes, the blog bears my name. But that’s only because the I’m writing about subjects that excite, inspire and motivate me. I, humbly, am just a prism. And you, my sister and brother artistpreneurs, by embracing my little ole blog are reflecting rays of light.
The only way I can think to thank you is to continue to grow the monice magazine the best way I can. So while you all are enjoying your Thanksgivings with your families (No worries, I will be, too) – I’m going to take a break and assess how to improve the blog.
During this time, I won’t be posting anything new, except for daily monice saids beginning Monday, Nov. 21st. But you can feel free to snoop around, catch up on any other pieces you may not have gotten a chance to read and talk amongst yourselves. I’ll be back up to speed on Nov. 28th. Trust!
Happy Thanksgiving, Fam!
Fam, what did you build and they came? How are you grateful for it?
